From 1st McDonald’s employee of McDonald’s Mexico to President of McDonald’s Mexico

Who would have thought that a 24 year old Mexican with broken English, a second of seven children of a middle class family would have the opportunities that McDonald’s offered me?

I was the first employee of McDonald’s Mexico in 1984. I eventually became the President of McDonald’s Mexico, the Chief Purchasing Officer of the US and Canada, President of Latin America, and ultimately, President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
After a very successful and rewarding 31 year career, I retired from this awesome brand. Feel blessed to have met so many people, traveled the world, and I am forever grateful.
A key skill I would share that McDonald’s develops is that of ‘Perseverance’, never giving up. It is not only a first job to millions of youth, but it is also the career path for many, many people.
